The year 2007 was truly a year of rebirth for the poet. He started writing again and was very productive. This is another power poem written with force. It is concise and it says a lot.
The poet asserts that he is not a back slider, but has been a Christian for 42 years. Then he claims to be a "Bible Slider." He has slid from the teachings of this false book!
"No heaven!"
"No resurrection!"
"Written by Man! Not by God!"
"Written by Man!" Repeated!
"I mean it!"
"Written by Man! Fallible Man!"
This is repetitive to drive the message home. And it does. There can be no question here of what the poet is saying. The poet then goes on to reassert his beliefs in Evolution and Environmental truths and equates them with God.
"A born again Secular Humanist! That is me!"
The poet lets us know who and what he is. This poem is very forceful. The poet seeks power for his thought very forcefully. The poet writes with crystal clear clarity. There cannot be any misunderstanding of his view. The poem is also very readable and can be read and re-read by people that share his view.
I find the poet to be a very likeable person. I am fortunate to have him as a good friend. He articulates viewpoints that I share. I think that his poems will have a long life of their own.
